Iron & Wine in the rain. Forgiveness and healing, between God and humanity and between brothers and sisters. Reverend Bosch's infectious passion. Waves at Burlington beach. Mom & Dad. The mirror; look in it!
Not beautiful: the amount of forgiveness and healing I need.
Beautiful: the fact that there is so much to spare!
I wonder... can a mirror be beautiful in itself? If all it is is an exact representation of what is in front of it, is it not simply a means of showing beauty (or the lack thereof)?
I think mirrors are beautiful. They have an ability to portray what they see, without any tricks, without any ditractions, without any false smiles or invented loveliness.
But, your beauty is being shown through the mirror. The mirror takes on your beauty when you look in it, therefore, indirectly, it is beauty of appearance.
Except, if we decide that the mirror is more beautiful than God (Romans 1...22 and 23 ish...) or even than what God intended us to be. And, by extension, if we decide that the image of perfection in the mirror is our goal, then we will put on makeup and get good lighting so that our image looks good in the mirror...it's only when we're honest about our flaws and can choose to reflect God that we can be truly beautiful...

forgiveness and healing.
yes. sometimes it's hard to see the beauty in that though, even when you're experiencing it.

So beauty of function, rather than appearance. Because they don't really have an appearance...
No, Beauty of appearance. They're beautiful when you look in one, because you are beautiful.
More mirror thoughts:
James 1:25
But then you are not seeing the mirror at all... you're seeing yourself.
The law as a mirror of the soul, that, my friend, is beautiful.
